Default Toyota Counterfeit parts EXPOSED!

Still kicking, been burnt out and taking a break from online stuffs. Came across this and wanted to post up to be careful when buying parts online. Deal with reputable sellers or dealers that you know you'll get a genuine product.

I wonder if this is a lot like many of the counterfeit claims I see across all things where an item breaks so it must be counterfeit. Or there are variances in manufacturing/revisions/suppliers, and so it must be counterfeit.

Default How to avoid counterfeit parts,

The dealer is reasonably priced on oil filters, air filters, cabin filters (functioning parts are reasonable) thermostats, etc.

A few dollars more, but no issues.

The end to problematic China is to stop buying from them.

Thanks Brad.

I've come across some decent deals on parts but unknown sources so I don't buy. The hard part is enough parts are discontinued so the aftermarket is the only source. The IAC valve hose split on the LS and that is a hose that isn't offered by Toyota/Lexus anymore.

Everybody needs a break once in a while. Nice video with good knowledge for some inexperienced people.
I've always said "just cuz it says Toyota on the box does not mean it's OEM". I personally buy some aftermarket on certain things but if I need OEM I will go to the dealer, where I know it's a true Toyota part.

I always prefer OEM but wouldn't shy away w/ parts from well known aftermarket brands neither. It's hard for me to believe there are people/companies out there that are willing to take the risk to produce low cost fake parts i.e. spark plugs, air & oil filters when OEM don't cost that much to start with. Anyway, I've purchased many parts online via eBay, Amazon, etc... for years so if what the guy showed is true then I wouldn't be surprised that I may have bought & used some fake parts in my cars which I thought were genuine, fortunately none of them failed prematurely. It's hard to tell what's fake & what's real now these days.
