Default Clarifying windshields and exterior glass

Windshield, exterior glass and rearview mirrors can accumulate hard water spots, haze, windshield wiper sweep marks, etc.

Used a self serve car wash that apparently was not softening its water supply or using well water and my outside rear view mirrors have slight water spot staining that does not wipe away with glass cleaner.

Searched online products that remove hard water spotting.

Located Griots Garage offering a complete range of professional glass cleaners, polishing compound, buffing pads and sealing products.

https://www.griotsgarage.com/product/fine+glass+polish+16+ounces.do

It appears these products would also improve windshield wiper blade sweep.

Anyone used these or other glass polishing products?

Thanks

I've done it using wool pads and cerium oxide the results are spectacular. VERY mess job though you must put a drop sheet on the entire car except the glass. Have not used that particular product.

CeriGlass is another product i'm about to purchase for my 97 odyssey that has extreme hard water spot that won't come off with Meguiars water spot remover, vinegar, or any amount of scrubbing.

try using a claybar on the glass. just like the paint, the claybar removes the embedded dirt. see if that takes away most of the hard water stains.

if that doesn't work i would try using dish soap, being careful not to get any on your paint or it will strip the wax off. dish soap gets rid of fats and oils, which is what most waxes are made of!

I have used a glass polishing kit from FLAPS that you chuck up to your drill (recommend a multispeed drill), and keep the water nearby so you don't overheat the glass. I would question attacking the windshield until you know if it has a weird polarized layer or an antenna film or whatever else these manufacturers like to do with modern windshields. I did the polishing procedure on my 1970 VW bus with etched in water spots from long outdoor storage stint. Worked like a charm and made cleaning the windows easy from that day forth.

Does that process get rid of actual little craters in the glass caused by sand blasting on the highway?
