Help diagnosing Bilstein strut issue on Tanabe springs...
I installed bilsteins with tanabe springs a couple years ago and one of my shocks blew. I just removed it today and it was a nightmare (completely blew apart). I checked the good/passenger side and noticed the top cap is worn compared to the good new shock.
Question is... what bump stops should I be using with this setup? I think the shop that did my installed used OEM bumpstops and I’m wondering if they are too large and simply rub the top of the shock non-stop?
car’s apart in the garage so any help is appreciated
.
thanks!

I think you're supposed to trim the bump stop in half when you go that low. That's what I had to do to my Honda Accord bump stop when I lowered it on Ground Control Coilovers about the same amount, 2".

Yeah I think it may be riding the bump stops way too often and ruined the shock cap.

any type of lowering should necessitate a bump stop trim.
you can feel the bump stop hit during suspension movements and if that happens often enough, what you experienced may happen.
I wouldn't think it could actually happen but i see the evidence in your pictures! wow.
