LS430 Performance almost equal to GS430
Here is an email I received today:
AN UNBEATABLE COMBINATION OF LUXURY AND TECHNOLOGY.
The quickest path between two points is a straight line. With this
thought squarely in mind, the 2004 Lexus LS has risen quickly to the
top of the luxury-sedan category, assuming its rightful place as the
premier luxury sedan. To those familiar with the LS model since its
debut in 1989, this ascension comes as no surprise. But the ways in
which we've improved the 2004 LS are surprising indeed.
The improvements start with the new pairing of a 290-horsepower V8
and a six-speed automatic transmission that together produce 0-60
acceleration in just 5.9 seconds [1]. That's a level of performance
that keeps the LS out in front, right where it belongs.
The technology is leading the pack, too, with an available backup
camera [2] that lets you see behind you while your car is in reverse,
and entry features like SmartAccess, which not only detects the
presence of your unique key and allows you to start the LS without
fumbling for the key or remote button, but allows you to unlock the
doors with the same convenience. We're also introducing an available
Satellite Digital Audio Receiver System (SDARS) [3], receivable from
coast to coast, with CD-quality sound from digital broadcasts.
Visually, things are just as exciting. The new bolder look is
enhanced not only by the newly designed hood, headlights, grille
and dual exhaust, but also by the new-design 17-inch, six-spoke
wheels, offered in alloy or chrome finish (18-inch, five-spoke
wheels [4] will be offered as an option).
Inside, the luxury appointments abound, from premium leather in
Cashmere, Ash, Black and Saddle shades accompanied by either golden
brown bird's-eye maple or antique walnut wood. To achieve sound
worthy of the LS, we're offering an available Mark Levinson® Premium
Audio System [5], featuring 11 speakers and 240 watts of pure sound.
If all of that wasn't enough, this Lexus LS has the engineering and
thinking behind it that has consistently received awards for quality
and customer satisfaction. In fact, the LS has received recognition
from J.D. Power and Associates as the "Highest Ranked Premium Luxury
Car" [6] seven times in a row.
If you want additional information about the new 2004 LS-including
interactive product demonstrations-you can also go to the LS launch
site when it becomes available in late September at
www.lexus.com/2004ls.
As you can see, the 2004 Lexus LS has wasted no time in attaining
luxury-car supremacy. When you're ready to buy a premier luxury
sedan, we suggest you head to the top of the class as well.

[2] The backup camera, available only with the navigation system, is
designed to capture a photographic image within the limited frame
capabilities of the camera's lens and is not intended to provide a
comprehensive view of the entire rear area of the vehicle. This system
should not be exclusively relied upon to confirm rearward clearance.

[4] Tires fitted with 17- or 18-in wheels are expected to experience
greater wear than conventional tires. Tire life may be substantially
less than 20,000 miles, depending on driving conditions.
