Just small related and general question . How about the concept New Old Stock . A bearing sitting on a shelf for 15 years would be a bit of risk for short lifespan.
The oil/grease will probably have a clearly limited life then. I did read on some forum about some LEXUS OEM electronics sparepart only lasting a few years. The theory put forward was NOS part with close to dried out capacitors or simmilar. Do we need to worry about NOS being past reasonable use by date for some components?.

I went with NTN bearings for my old 97' and I think I paid less than $15 for the pair from the same vendor on eBay. Drove it for 3 yrs in freezing temps in Michigan and didn't have any issues. But I think 95-97 is different than 98-00, so be weary of the right part numbers. I found them all on clublexus though in one of these threads after searching, someone had done it before.
ah yes, here's the thread I referenced: I posted pics in there too

ok got the new pulley on today, really wasn't too tricky apart from just having to rotate the fan ever so slightly to have room to get your hands and socket on the tensioner
old one definitely had to go, noisy af and not smooth anymore
i was also able to just let the belt hang loose without removing the whole thing which was nice, and i brought in a 2nd set of hands to hold the wrench to keep the tension off the belt as i slid it back on to the tensioner and alternator pulleys... if i didn't have someone else to hold the wrench it might've taken a bit longer but all in all maybe 15-20 min

the new bearing is smooth as silk and silent, we'll have to just wait and see how well it hold up... at least now i know it's quite straightforward to replace in the future, maybe when i get the next timing belt service i'll just have a new tensioner itself installed
