Default Strut Rod Removal Issue

It's the original strut rod, and after 22 years it just don't want to come out! I removed the three nuts: the big one on the mounting bolt and the two smaller ones attached to the arm and removed the arm from the axle. But the through-bolt will NOT BUDGE! I think maybe it is rusted to the inside of the hub. When I tried to turn it(unscrew the bolt head in case it was still screwed into something), the whole arm moved with it. Any ideas? I just have a propane torch, no acetylene, but maybe I need to heat up the hub.

It’s rusted to the inner bushing sleeve. Order a new bolt and bust out the sawzall.

Thanks, I had come to that conclusion! Is the bolt hardened steel that is going to go through multiple blades?

it’s very hard steel. You’ll have to plan on multiple blades, quality metal cutting blades from a name brand.

yes, cutting through the bolt on either side of the bushing is your only option. I had to do this to all 6 of my bolts going through the bushings in the rear end in order to do an alignment using the eccentric bolts in the back attached to the subframe.

I think I went through 6 sawzall blades.
