I'm installing a pioneer double din in my ls400 and for the wiring, on the Metra harness that plugs in to the car, it shows on the diagram "BLUE = POWER ANTENNA / AMPLIFIER REMOTE TURN ON"
I was under the impression that you could hook up the power antenna to a wire that only made it come out while the radio was on. If it was hooked up to the remote wire, wouldn't the antenna be out as soon as you turn the key on? I don't want the antenna out all the time, does anyone know anything about this?

When I did it in my car I ended up just not having the power antenna hooked up. Still can listen to the radio just not as high of quality.

Okay, but how do I make the antenna come out when I turn the radio to the tuner?

Depends on the head unit. I have a JVC that is smart enough to only power up the antenna when the radio is on, all other modes like USB or Bluetooth it stays down. A Pioneer I have is not so smart it sends power the antenna lead whenever the unit is on in any mode.
