The PS pump is not hard to replace at all but you will have to have a puller to get the drive wheel off. Not exactly a DIY for a newbie I would think.

things needed to be done: power steering pump, steering rack, ac... (i'm in LA - heat of the valley) probably a drivers seat replacement...replacing the car amplifier etc

no rust, seats are good for the most part...exterior was good- only was in 1 accident, rear ended but no bumper damage
the car runs well for the most part. i know it has a few other things needed but those are the main things...

how would you decide about dropping about 4K into the car vs getting something new & letting her go ?
Just curious if you have priced this all out? At a mechanic shop, you are probably better off buying another used car(but used car dealers make cheap fixes to last short-times often enough!).

I had the power steering pump and steering rack on my 1990 ls400 done for under 2k, parts and labor! AC I have no idea and didn't have much luck since it takes r4(or whatever old freon). A seat, maybe a $50 cover would work for you and amp I'd think you could replace for around $100 parts and maybe $100 if you know any electrical people or can find someone on craigslist or whatnot(I think it is just about figuring out the wire diagram and making a few splices -- have had this done but forget the details)!

If you can find non-shop repairs and the AC can come under $500, then I'd say to FIX IT UP! That V8 engine and that classic look plus the feel of driving that car is so nice, it will likely be missed in another $8-9k car :/
