Am substituting Dr. LED 8 chip T-3-1/4 (T-5) lamps to achieve brighter white light (over 180 lumens) and decreased power consumption..

It is not advisable to switch to a brighter, whiter light for daytime running lamps. Reduced visibility and safety will be a concern because other drivers won't be able to distinguish the car moving towards them in the distance, that's why the DRLs are an incandescent more yellowish color for the reflective housing.
It would be different if you had a dedicated LED DRL assembly as it would be more directed and focused, but placing an LED bulb in a halogen assembly will not achieve a better result.

Apparently mistitled as driving lights, but replaced both of these inoperative 5W bulbs several years ago with dealer parts.
The glass envelopes were blackened.
Now they are LED's.
The two other bulbs perform the heavy lifting.
Feel free to survey yours and replace as you see fit.
Most are probably blackened or burnt out after 20 years.

So if you did a test where you positioned the car say 300 yards away and ran both the incandescent bulb and LED bulb, would the LED have the same if not greater output? And it wouldn't blend in with the surrounding environment in bright sunlight?
If it produces a white light that is still visible, I'm all for upgrading the 20 yr old bulb I have in there now.
2 incandescent bulbs X 5 watts = 10 watts.
2 LED bulbs X 1 watt = 2watts.
10 watts - 2 watts = 8 watts energy savings.
8 watts ÷ 12 volts = .666 Amps.
Now if I could find 10 other places to reduce power consumption.
Instrument cluster, radio and climate control bulbs come to mind.
The challenge is working the LED bulbs to achieve uniform light output or dimability (The Dr. LED bulbs featured here are not dimmable)
On information, certain radio and or climate control bulbs are 8V....

1998-2000 headlamp assemblies feature this third, albeit minor bulb.
Still trying to wrap my head around the title of parking lamp...as it appears they operate when the car is moving...
Order a set from Dr. LED and report your findings. ..
The rear tail light assembly each have a T-3-1/4 bulb-replaced mine with red LED's
The front side marker lense bulbs were replaced with amber LED's
The 4 Door Pocket lamps were replaced with red LED's (red is easier on eyes at night)
The Trunk lamp was replaced with a white LED...huge difference

The third brake light assembly will maintain T-5 incandescents, but will supplement with a third or, if necessary, a fourth as LEDs to reduce turn on time (safety), while avoiding notchy turn off time of using straight LED's..and avoid triggering bulb out indicator.
