Default 96' transmission problem?!!

recently my transmission wont go into gear when i select any of the drive gears in the gear select, it goes into reverse, neutral and park just fine but it barely moves when i put it into drive, anyone else have a similar issue or know a solution, im assuming its a drive solenoid issue or something of that sort but i may be way off, please help

(i already tried disconnecting the shift solenoid cable and nothing changed)

Check wires in the trunk hinge. Known problem for that year.

Miles on car? What is the condition of the transmission fluid?

I'd check the solenoid S1 and the speed sensor including the wires of those. The reason why S1 is based on the shift solenoids table here. The reason why the speed sensor is due to the fact that the ECU's firmware is designed to stop the signal to drive the solenoid S1 when the speed signal is not coming in to the ECU.

As far as I have fixed several different Toyota cars, the solenoid S1 or the speed sensor was causing the problem "only reverse and the neutral works as 4th".
