2000 LS400, about 250K miles, 5W30 Mobil 1 oil, no Check Engine codes.

This is how it sounds when I start it after it's been sitting a week or two:

The sound does go away after a few minutes.

Is this normal?

If the noise only occurs after the car has sat for a week or two, I'm thinking that the oil is draining out of the oil passages. What brand of oil filter are you using? Does it have an anti-drain-back valve?

This is a very good point, and I might be using a random garbage filter. I'll get the Toyota filter. Thanks for the tip.
