Window tracks, rollers, motor gears require cleaning and lubrication
After 20 - 30 years lubricants expire.
Windows no longer raise and lower as they should.
Both rear windows would at times reopen with safety reverse due to thermistor tripping due to over taxed motor.
Removed windows on all four doors, replaced roller mechanisms, cleaned old build-up of hardened grease from guides and gear mechanism..
Sparse images here, but those depicted are of the rear window rollers after replacement.
Bottom rear window roller assembly Vintage window roller required lubricant so purchased Toyota syringe lubricant kit. Syringe has a rectangular needle so can inject lubricant into tight places. New Top roller
Big job to remove all.interior door panels, speakers, door ECUs to extract windows, but much improved window operation.
I did not remove window lift mechanism or motor assembly.
However would recommend doing so to more thoroughly clean/lubricate counter springs and gear assemblies..
After replacing the window rollers, cleaning the tracks, the left rear window continues to experience auto-reverse issues.
The window regulator was not extracted, but acquired a yard pull motor/regulator assembly.
Lubricant in regulator/gear pivot area is tired and this is contributing to friction.
Will be removing all window regulators to remove old lubricant and relubricate
However, Toyota is unable to provide information on correct lubricant.
Anyone know? (Toyota lubricant P.N.)
Several regulator images:
Yard pull motor - regulator assembly appears in good condition. Movement area lubricant is tired There appeats milky white lubricant...anyone know Toyota P.N.? Motor assembly. Anyone open the gear case? The cover appears held in place with folded metal tabs.

My FSM calls for MP (multi-purpose) lubricant. No part number reference. It's probably this stuff:
There's Numbers 1, 2 and 3. The numbers reference NLGI classification numbers. Take your pick. It's the same stuff, just different consistency (thickness).

Image depicts a gallon pail of grease..
Anyone know Toyota P.N.'s for more manageable tubes of #1, #2 or #3 MP grease?
I have never seen #1 MP grease. I neither have seen tubes for #2 nor #3. Only a 2.5 kg or a 16 kg can is available both for #2 and #3 here in Japan.
Leave it to a factory shop manual to specify lubricant only available in 2.5 kg, in another Country, which either Toyota or Lexus Dealer is not going to purchase for their shop.
Am seeking an application specific Toyota lubricant to do the job...
Javier at McGrath Lexus Chicago parts department researched availability of application specific Toyota lubricant for LS400 window regulator mechanism...and viola!
Magic. Professional Grade White spray grease There is the window regulator emblazoned on the can. Must be the right stuff.... Toyota part number: 00289-1WG03 Rear door middle track visible with door panel and speaker removed.. Two Torx screws hold it in place. Torx screw removed Track pulls straight up and out... After application of Toyota spray grease. Also greased the front track and window slide bar. Torx 30 bit.
Did not use the Toyota window regulator grease on the front weatherstrip track due to rubber, but removed, cleared track with Q-tips and applied syringe injected grease; Toyota Grease Kit part number 04007-76133
Any update on grease availability? Or if that's a dead end, anyone know the specs of the Toyota #2 grease that can be compared to something commercially available? I have some high end Prothane super grease that is sticky. If I can't find the Toyota grease I'll just use that. My driver's window won't go up without some help and the other windows all move slow as molasses in the winter.
