No broken timing belts. Both were mechanic error on previous work! (one broken camshaft and one loose camshaft gear).
Rich
Wow! I've never heard of a camshaft breaking, that's crazy stuff. However, I did see where a club member posted photos of a block literally breaking into several pieces, that was really wild. Btw, does the 1uz have an aluminum block? Thanks.
Dffferent camshaft timing tube sizes caused some problems. Deep discussion...red/green....ugh.
Engine Mechanical EM-50 for more info.
So Rich, were the camshafts "replaced" from previous work? If so I wonder why anyone would replace the stock cams unless it was to beef up the power, some guys don't mind putting in mods, not something I would ever do though.
I was the problem on this particular car. I did the camseals and the intake cam broke after about 200 miles. I destroyed that head limping the car home :-(.

My guess is that it was a "98-00" LS, with the VVTI, would that be correct?

Correction, I just read your previous posts and they were in fact VVTI engs., the good thing about my '95 is that I don't have to worry about the VVTI's and that's perfectly ok with me.
