I'm looking to buy a k&n air filter for my 97 LS400 but can only find one for a 97 SC400. Will these be compatible? If someone can point me in the right direction of a compatible parts list or a performance upgrades list I'd appreciate it.

 

Not compatible, the SC400 filter is rectangle and LS400 is circle. Also the K&N will give 0 power benefits, and let more dirt into the engine. Remove intake resonator piping and do the JBrady intake mod if you want some intake sound.

 

K & N airfiltair filters use K & N air filter oil?

If so, the oil can cause premature failure of MAF sensors.

If original, replace your ECT sensor

 

i second the jbrady intake mod, which does give some power (fraction of a HP) but the sound is cool. it takes a lot of work and coin to extract power out of the 1UZ (extrude hone is one instance) so bolt ons are really not overly beneficial. the engine is optimized for the factory stuff!
