Default Missing

I have a 96 ls400. I parked the car one day. Went back 2 days later, crank no start. Replaced fuel pump, regulator caps and rotors. No dice. Would run when spraying ether in air horn. Discovered etching on board in computer. Ordered refurbished computer but was missing on 4 cylinders . Got another and still missing. Any one can help me?

Is an entire bank missing? What are the engine codes?

It sounds like you're getting fuel now. I would recommend checking if both banks of the engine are getting fuel and spark.

Are you sure on this?
Ignition coils are related to both banks as is explained in this drawing. The left coil supplies spark energy to cylinders 1,4,6 and 7. The right coil to 2,3,5 and 8. In case of the entire left or the entire right side, I wouldn't jump to coils and check others such as cam timings or the exhaust related.

Thanks, Yamae - going to keep that image handy. I remembered it incorrectly.

Thanks for responding. I left a few things out. I bought a computer . When I installed it, the car missed very bad. I checked for spark and hs it on all 8. But when I checked for pulse I had non on 4 cylinders causing 4 misfire codes. Sent ecm back and I have another. Only 1 code now, p0100. Enging runs very rough. But I will recheck for both fire and pulse. Thank you.

So there's only one code. You almost got the answer now. Judging from the symptom, the MAF sensor is not functioning right or surroundings (such as a vacuum leak or wirings/connections) are not OK.

Probably a simple MAF sensor cleaning wouldn't fix the problem but I dare try to clean and check values for the confirmation. See the drawing below. The temperature sensor (THA-E2) should be checked removing the connector when the engine is not running and the resistance value should be 2.5kΩ±0.5kΩ @ 20℃ and the value decreases as temperature rises up. It should be around 1.1kΩ @ 40℃.

The output voltage (VG-E3) should be checked inserting the connector using an adapter which makes it possible to measure the voltage between VG and E3 while the engine is running. I don't remember the exact voltage but I think it's 1V or less @ idle and the voltage increases as the engine revs up.
