Height Control Display
In my '92 LS400 with the height control option there are 3 displays in the guage cluster. They are HIGH/NORM/LO.
In my '93 LS400 with the height control option there are 2 displays in the guage cluster. They are HIGH/NORM.
Could someone please tell me why this was changed, and if there is any signifigance behind the change? No one that I have asked has ever been able to answer this question and the curiousity is killing me.

I know! I know!
I have the 90 with high/normal/low. What killed me was I only had the option for high/normal. I wondered if the low light was there in case these was a problem and one of the struts was too low. Turns out that it only turns on when the car is going passed 87 mph- the struts lower a bit to make the car more aerodynamic. Lexus took the low light out to make more sense and to keep people from going 87 mph.

Yeah, I remember something about this automatic adjustment that the car does reading through the owners manual, just like kamtra says. Kinda nifty, I'll have to pay attention next time to see at what speed the LO illuminates.

kamtra is a super pimp
thanks for finally clearing that up for me. I read in the manual how the low feature/light activates at higher driving speeds, however I did not know it was specifically 87 mph. I know it is still functional in the '93 with air suspension. I think that is a sweet option. I love the first generation Lexus.

one more note
yes, it would be nice if the lo light was in all the models. I remember it kicking on a few times in my 92, but if i remember correctly, you have to maintain the fast speed for awhile before the car lowers. please correct me if i am wrong.

yes, the air susp. is pretty cool. I have a 92 as well. I have noticed that after the car is tripped into the low mode, it will stay there untill 75. After that the car raises up to the norm.

The after market air susp controller does the same thing at diffrent speeds adjusts the hight.
The main reason I got the aftermarket one was to drop my car so it does not look like an SUV. If I know Im going to be driving over bad roads or high speedbumps I raise it. This was the 1st mod I did to both of my cars with the air suspension.

I just wanted to say that I parked my 1st gen LS next to a 2nd gen LS and I couldn't believe how much better my car looked. The lines of the 90-93 are so much nicer. The 94 looks like a Toyota Avalon. Very non-descript. Also, how much did you spend on your air ride controller? I still have air struts in the front and would like to electronically control them rather than the hot wire job I did on it.

Newer controller $300-$330 and wiring harness is $100
