1999 LS400 main engine compartment fusebox - removed and inspected condition of relay spade terminals.
Spade terminals on main engine and rear window defogger, both P.N.: 90987-04002 appear discolored. Am replacing both relays.
Remainder of engine compartment fusebox relays look good, but little, if any connector grease...
22 year old connector grease on engine main and rear window defogger relay is dried out and appeared a burnt residue on the relay socket.

The relay spade terminals appear burnt where female sockets terminals scored traces on relay terminals. THIS is a BAD design.
Female and male contacts should have more surface interface area vs female terminals simply scratching contacting relay spade lug surface via thin traces.
Acquired a tube of Toyota Connector Grease 08887-02106 from McGrath Lexus Chicago to replace/replenish dried-out product.


Relay spade terminals are burnt. The plastic locking tabs are brittle suggests excess resistance/ heat at terminal area.

Relay socket depicting burnt connector grease residue. Was able to clean using CRC plastic compatibe electrical cleaner.

Main Engine and Rear Window Defogger Relay are same part number. About $20 each from dealer. Avoid using anything aftermarket here.

i would think grease like this has a shelf life but i suppose it doesn't!
