New member hello
Just joined today after buying a 96 this morning. Sweet car. Nice old guy in his late 70s has owned it the last 20 years, stored it in the winter and drove 3-4K miles each summer. 106,000 miles on the clock and not a nick or scratch on it. Was his baby and I think I saw a tear when he sold it. His words…..it was time to give her a new home. I still can’t get over the 90s built in phone lol.

It was a process lol. His daughter even called to talk to me about dad’s car and how much it meant to him. It was like I was adopting a member of the family and I guess to them I was. Very nice group of people though and he seemed to perk up when I gave him an envelope full of $100 bills.

Wow, is that Ebony Teal Pearl (6N9)? That's a fairly uncommon color, from what I've gathered.
Great find, and very nice car. I can definitely see why the previous owner would have had a hard time letting it go.

Thanks. Yeah, I actually thought it was black when I went to look at it because it was raining out. The guy told me it looked dark green in the sunlight and then I noticed it.

Welcome and congrats on the purchase, ya can't find much better then that. Believe me, I've tried. I've been searching up and down the east coast, mainly down cuz of rust issues. I shoulda looked up in Maine. It seems like Maine is it's own place, the nicest people up there, not like the rest of the country. At least it was like that all the times I've been there. Anyway, if ya don't mind me asking, how many $100 bills filled the envelope? Both of my LSs were that color, I like how it's black until the sun comes out and then it's teal green.

awesome find and story! that's in absolutely beautiful condition too
parting with a good LS 400 really is like losing a family member... there's a certain something about these cars where even people who don't know much about them can't help but be a bit intrigued (maybe they think it's an old benz lol), it's basically a perfect balance of classy old school and a modern slick design
years ago i had a friend get in the car for the first time, and after only like 10 seconds she's like... it's weird how smooth this thing is! can't beat the relentless pursuit of perfection
