58mm offset wheels?
The wheels on my newly acquired LS400 have some chrome peeling, so I'd like to get a new set.
I know many people need to run spacers when installing new rims on an LS400 due to the big brakes up front (20-25mm on rims with a 40mm offset).
I'm wondering if 19x8.5 rims with a 58mm offset would fit (with or without spacers) on a 2000 LS400?

That is pretty sunken fitment at 58mm, not recommended. Slight chance it will rub the front inner suspension parts on a hard lock turn. You would want to be in the conservative 38-45mm range ball park. A flushed to aggressive fitment would be in the 25-35 mm range that will likely bring fender mods. Clearing the front calipers is dependent on the spoke design for big brakes or high to mid-disk type wheels.

see this thread where the OP attempted 19x8.5 +50 but it's unknown how the fronts fit. likely i was close and +58 will be even closer if not fitting at all. rears will likely fit for you.

also reiterate what mike said, clearance has more to do with spoke and disk design of the wheel and less to do with the offset.
