Hi everyone. I have a question about my insane camber wear on my '00 LS400. I put on shortened and tilted spindles (only -3 tilted) and Megan Racing RCAs (normal rca, not camber rca). My tires, even after an alignment, last for about 6-8 days of daily driving (about 20mi/day). Don't get me wrong, I know more camber = more tire wear, but surely it can't be that horrible? New tires get worn down extremely fast with the shortened and tilted spindles and RCAs. I put my stock spindles back on, kept the RCAs, and the tire wear has improved. Any ideas? Or is this the cost of being steezy?
What alignment toe specs? What tires? Some tires detest being driven on the edge like that and will wear quite fast. A previous car the camber was -3.25 range and the toe spec could not be dialed in at that ride height, those tires lasted less than 4K before having to be flipped. Recall only getting about 6800K miles before replacing them, the center was near new, LOL.
Im not sure of the toe specs, but I did take it to a reputable alignment shop that takes in slammed cars. I have been using Accelera Phi. The tire size I want is pretty much only available from that brand/model.
whoa that's insane to only last 6 days, even at the front that only sees braking and steering duties. it's all in the toe specs! make it as close to zero as possible.
here is my setup but never did drop knuckles as i didn't need it and also ran camber RCAs and my tires lasted 7-8k miles before a flip was needed. i was on air though and aligned my car to aired up specs (just slightly 1 inch higher at the front).
i believe those are 225s on a 9.5 +24 stock fenders, just trimmed.

Sick LS! I guess I'll give the spindles another go (pain to install them unfortunately) and make sure the alignment place gets the toe as perfect as possible. Also, could it be a combination of the modded spindles AND the roll center adjusters that cause the tire wear? ie, if I only ran the modded spindles with the RCAs taken off, would it help?
RCAs just correct the roll center and add a little more drop. it wouldn't contribute too much to the negative camber; the spindles will being so short.
btw i also ran acceleras (older model before the phi) and they were decent as they are a bit on the harder side of treadwear which is what you want for them to last.
the LS front camber has some factory adjustment using the lower arm eccentric bolts - the alignment shop should know how to adjust these. you can set them to max camber or lessen it for better alignment. again the key is to get the toe as close to 0 as possible.
