180,000 miles and running very strong.

Occasional noise over bumps but still sooo smooth.

Can't believe I got it for $4,000 with 153,000 on it. Feels like I got a $50,000 car. Hopefully I can hit the 1/2 million mile mark one day.

That is amazing My Father-in-Law routinely tells me the LS can go 500,000 miles if taken care of. I am almost ready to turn 200,000 and it runs like new.

I had 252K on my 90' LS when I sold it. Still purred like a kitten and the transmission shifted flawlessly.

There is a local 1990 LS400 here at a Jaguar dealership that has 65K on it. They are asking $10,900!

for mileage a friend of mine traded his 91 lexus in to a dealer with 568,000 miles on the same transmission and engine. he only replaced the power steering twice and 1 A/C compressor. That't not the record there is a guy in San Diego with over 800,000 miles on a 90 lexus I hear it had the same motor till about 790,000 miles and trans till about 650,000 miles. I have talked to several dealers here in Southern California who have many customers with 300,000 to 450,000 miles and still going strong. There is a dealer in Cerritos California with a 91 lexus with 450,000 miles and it is all orignal and it looks great. There just isn't any car built as good as a lexus anywhere in the world today.

Now that is an awesome post.

Makes me feel really good about my 1991 LS400.

I couldn't be happier. Funny thing is, even with 173,000 miles, I am thinking about getting new leather seat covers because I plan to keep this car a really long time. I only tell you guys because nobody else would understand.

The end of November and I have 84,000 miles on my 99. I've got a long way to go! After that, I might buy another one, seriosuly.

That is so true about other folks not getting it. I was transferred to South Carolina last year for 3 months and decided to drive my LS. It had about 165,000 miles on it then and everybody said I was crazy because it would break down. I drove down with three coworkers (Hummer, Ford King Ranch and Grand Cherokee). Of those three, the Hummer was the only one to make it to Greenville without beaking down! Moral to this story is to buy those seat covers bro and keep on trucking!

i got so much flack from my friends for buying an "8 year old car" even though it only had 57,000 miles, all i heard was, "now is when everything will start going wrong with it".

i was 99% sure i made the right decision, and after coming here, now i'm 110% sure......in all my 47 years, i have never owned such a superior vehicle....there's no doubt in my mind i will be driving a Lexus for the rest of my life....

Just rolled 313k miles on my '90 LS400 that I picked up for $3500. I've fixed a bad climate LCD display, got the OEM subwoofer "re-foamed", replaced the power mirror ECM, and troubleshot a fuse issue where half the interior didn't work (DOME fuse was dead). It's a sweet car and I plan to put a LOT more miles on it.

A few folks snickered when they heard the mileage, but change their tune after having a ride in it :-)

I feel the same way. I'm 51 years old and have never had a vehicle of this quality. Lexus for life for me. I plan on having my car a long time. These are the type of cars that one gets once every 10-15 years. I have a 96 with 79K miles on it and based on what everyone is saying here, I've got at least another 8 to 10 years worth of driving.

I love driving on the highway in this car. On a long stretch, it reminds me of a jet plane. It's just that smooth!

This doesn't have to do with high mileage but you guys got me thinking.

I am a new real estate agent, although I still drive my 1991 LS400 Pearl White to deliver pizzas for Dominos until I can get my real estate career going. I get compliments pretty much every day. Most people say either "nice car" or "why do you deliver pizzas in such a nice car?" I just smile. I think it's funny that people say that. Makes me want to tell them, "I'm sorry, maybe I should have bought a really unreliable car for $4,000 that looks and drives like crap."
I've never said that, but it honestly pops into my head everytime somebody questions why I drive this car?

There's other delivery drivers that bought new trucks for $15,000+ and nobody questions them.

One time I was walking out of the pizza parlor behind two beautiful women. They were walking out to their car when they saw mine and commented to each other, "nice car for delivering pizza", and the other responded, "yeah, what a waste."

I started laughing and they turned around and watched me walk over to the car.

Delivery service is hard on cars. People generally figure nicer cars get treated nicer, including not being used in hard service. But if you're inside the car, it no doubt seems better to have the better car, and an old LS isn't that much harder to replace if needed than the other $4K cars.
