Interesting point on folks driving $ 15,000 trucks and not being questioned.
The LS has prestige positioning and a timeless design, so most folks who are unfamiliar have no idea how old your car is.
Good luck with your real estate career. You're in CA which is ground zero for the real estate bubble burst, so you're going to need a lot of luck and hard work.

This doesn't have to do with high mileage but you guys got me thinking.
I am a new real estate agent, although I still drive my 1991 LS400 Pearl White to deliver pizzas for Dominos until I can get my real estate career going. I get compliments pretty much every day. Most people say either "nice car" or "why do you deliver pizzas in such a nice car?" I just smile. I think it's funny that people say that. Makes me want to tell them, "I'm sorry, maybe I should have bought a really unreliable car for $4,000 that looks and drives like crap."
I've never said that, but it honestly pops into my head everytime somebody questions why I drive this car?
There's other delivery drivers that bought new trucks for $15,000+ and nobody questions them.
One time I was walking out of the pizza parlor behind two beautiful women. They were walking out to their car when they saw mine and commented to each other, "nice car for delivering pizza", and the other responded, "yeah, what a waste."
I started laughing and they turned around and watched me walk over to the car.

I thought I would bump this thread since on the way to the office today I turned 200,000 miles on my 95. I thought for a moment it would be like Y2K
in that maybe all the lights would illuminate. They did not and the old LS kept running along. The good news is that it runs just like it did when new and still gets the same mileage - what a great car

I love reading the stories about folks putting on 200k+ miles on these cars. Just confirms that I'll have my car a long time. Congrats Steveski and hoping you have many more miles of happy motoring.
I just got back from another long road trip during the holidays (the LS is the type of car that makes one want to cruise on the highway). I averaged about 23 mpg the entire trip and 25 mpg on stretches of the trip. That is amazing for a nearly 2.0 ton vehicle with a V8. A used LS is the best bargain out there. I should have been driving this car years ago.

I have about 282,780k on mine. Original engine, rebuilt tranny (only because I didn't keep up with the maintanance schedule), I normally do. I didn't realize I was driving 3000 miles monthly. Starter was just recently changed by myself and by doing that I appreciate my LS a whole lot more. Of course all other regular maintenance is kept up like t/b w/p, etc. From 84,040k in '99 to 282,780k in '08 engine still ultra quiet and powerful. Gotta to love this car

I have 183K on my 94, still runs great, trans fluid is still PINK..
Great cars... Consumer reports did an article on the LS400 mabye a year ago. They had very high praise for this car.. they said was that an 8 year old LS was more reliable than one year old Benz.
