Not liking the new design, so, I am trying to keep the '98 running.
What caught my attention here are your comments about the design of the new LS. They messed this car up, at least as far as looks are concerned. The latest iteration is just ugly to me and I wouldn't consider buying anything beyond the 1st gen 460.

My own LS has 218,000 on it now. I bought it 7 years ago with 34K miles. During my ownership, I've had to refresh the suspension (still have to replace carrier bushings in the back), had a failed fuel pump a couple of years back, done the timing belts twice and just last week had to replace the radiator. I've got an exhaust leak in a rubber hose coming off the manifold that I need to deal with, but other than that and the carrier bushings, the car is in good shape. No question about it, the LS is an excellent reliable vehicle.

Mark 4 LS400 with DHP. 156,000 miles and owned from new in 2000. Problems? One starter motor, electric motors for steering adjustment replaced, one bulb. Original everything else. A keeper!

Smile '96 with 197,000

Bought it with 96,000 in July of 2006.

Did the timing belt/water pump at 108,000

Gonna decide in the next 5000 miles whether to keep it and do the tb/wp again or get a younger one and sell this to the salesman at the Toyota dealer who has been begging me to sell it to him, lol.

Best wishes to all forum members,

Bob in Central Cal

Talking Simply A Great Car!

My 97 LS has just clocked in at 201 miles. Oops, I meant 201,000 miles. Forgot to type in the 3 zero's. It has been with the family for 16 years now. Great car.
