Here's my proof @ 200K. My 95 LS400 still goin strong, rides like new doin about 80MPH on the freeway.
So far the only replacements I've made were:

Timimg belt on or around 101K
Power Steering pressure hose @ about 165K
Full tranny flush @ the Toyota Mall of Georgia...170K
Replaced one LR air strut from Carson Toyota @ 199K,,,why? Because you can't beat the comfort of an air ride suspension.
No other major work so far, had it for 5 1/2 yrs, still love the reliability.

My '96 hit 100K last week, and is getting treated to a full service this week... cambelt & water pump replacement, thermostat, coolant flush (refill with 5yr/150K Dex-Cool), brake fluid change (it's BLACK), oil change, tyre rotation, and serpentine drivebelt replacement....

To date, I've had the following done/replaced:
EGR pipe @ 65K
"front castor bars" -twice under warranty because they were cracked... haven't checked them again yet....
rear carrier bushing @ 70K

Past two visits to Longo Lexus at 65K and 70K cost $1200 and $1300, respectively... it hasn't been back there since, except to pick up parts...

Soon I'll be taking it to a body shop in Arizona to get the front bumper cover resprayed as it's begun peeling for the second time... my mother rear-ended a Porsche (at least she had good taste!). Bloody water-based California paint.... doesn't adhere to anything but metal....

That said, I hope to have the car around for a few more hundred thousand miles.... Still burns not a drop of oil. The same can't be said for my '93 Corolla, which at 141,000 miles (just replaced original starter and alternator, but still not original clutch) averages a quart every 5000 miles. Go figure...

124k on a '96. Runs better than most new cars! I hope to get another 100k out of it without too much trouble; our '90 Infiniti Q45 still runs well with 210k miles on it so I expect similar or better performance from the Lexus.

Things to fix:

Timing belt/water pump replacement: $600 at local mechanic
Two Power steering fluid leaks! One from the high pressure hose, one from the steering rack. Looking for an inexpensive fix for these.

WOW I thought I was nuts having my care service every 5k miles and getting anything and everything just like new, but you top the chart here. It seem that you have spent over $11k on repairs for a car you paid $13k for. Did I read somting wrong? Yeah I know its an awsome car but does it make sence to spend $11k for 25k miles or driving?

Please understand I am not knocking you, you obviously love you car and thats impressive.

I agree with him... thats absolutely insane sinking 11 grand into a car that old.... you could have just looked at a much newer LS, or even saved about 10K more and started looking at LS430s.

The day my car has a repair that costs more than 5 grand, its right out the door and the search for a 98-00 SC400 begins.

Yes, with cars there are limits to how much to repair. On older cars, I have found that you cannot own one unless you are OK living with some issues. Like the Mercedes cars of the 1970s and earlier, today's LS cars will run forever, but at some point the COST of running forever becomes untenable.

..........I bought some parts from www.lexus-parts.com, but I'm not sure if they carry all the regular mechanical parts as well, and I'm not sure if they're wholesale prices. If you can post the link, then it will help all of us!!
Thanks!
