I've had my LS 400 for 3 years now and it has over 355k on it. This baby is going strong!! I'm 20 yrs old and I want to keep this car till I'm at least 40. So when eventually the engine gives up, I'll simply put a new engine. I love the old classic lexus shape - just beautiful!!

My 1990 LS400 has 297,821 and over 250,000 of those miles were driven in New York City! But my dad's 1991 LS400 has 318,000 miles. His transmission just went so he decided to pay $700 for a new one. He'll probably have it for another 100k miles!!

Oh well might as well post up too, have a 96 with 220K, pretty high for a newer one. No major problems, but what the hell just fix em and keep on going!

I don't know if this is still true or even true at all, but someone my father did business with growing up had an old mercedes turbo diesel and always used to tell him that if you drive a benz 1 million miles, you would get a new one. I know that sounds really dogdy at best. I've never asked benz to confirm I just thought it was the rantings of a cooky old lady at the time. But I wonder if it is actually true if someone has done it. One of those old turbo d's could prolly do it. Anyone else heard this? or can say for sure if it's true?
last I heard about the 550k+ miles LS was it had 580k, and that was in 2004. I'm convinced you can't kill an old LS or GS at this point, it's like the truck on TopGear.
my best you can't kill an old GS story...
...I drove my 1st gen into some water (flash flood in traffic, couldn't do anything really) threw some carb cleaner and WD40 (don't ask, I just happened to have some in my trunk, and the wd40 was the only thing lubricating I had to keep from hydro-locking) down the intake manifold and turned the car over without sparking slowly, after a bit of that I started it up and reved like mad, blew water out of my tail pipes (which according to my buddy that it sprayed all over was quite a large ammount. and aside from the alternator being completely submerged and ruined the car was fine (alternator was under warrenty), so it was no huge deal. And my buddy is convinced that I am somehow related to macguyver after that.

I know they used to give you these badge things when you reached certain mileages, maybe like 100, 250, 500, million. Don't see them much nowdays but you'd see them on the grilles of the cars when they were driving around. About the size of a police badge, I don't recall exactly what they looked like, but something like an overgrown collector pin type of design. Maybe round or something like that, with lots of colors but mostly white and red I think.
That's all I remember but they did have some kind of official program like that maybe 20 or 25 years ago.
Those diesels ran forever!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
