Greetings ClubLexus! I was fortunate enough to get a very clean '98 LS400 a few months ago, and I have recently run into an issue where my cassette tape is stuck in eject mode and I need to replace my navigation head unit. I figured if I am going to replace it I might as well go aftermarket to get Bluetooth, apple carplay, etc. I've seen a few things online saying that I will need to get the climate control from a non-navigation LS, along with a double-din adapter and of course aftermarket head unit. Has anyone done this before and could give me some fine details? Like what exactly to purchase, etc. This is my first time doing something like this and I can't seem to find anything very detailed for a navigation unit replacement. Any help is appreciated.
My Nav screen has gone blank in my Celsior. The only thing that works is my AC speed. Touch screen still works but Can’t see or control anything else. Any advise? Easy fix?

The CCFL or it's drive circuit must be dead. It's not easy to fix for most of us but skilled DIYers would fix it finding failed parts or modifying the backlighing system converting to use LEDs. This is not an exact method for a 96 Celsior but it's quite similar. https://akipara2.sakura.ne.jp/f816/09.jpg
The whole contents are in Japanese and you can find them here.

would it best to convert the backlighting system or try to source another oem nav system?

It would be the best to replace the NAVI unit. The Celsior's NAVI unit only has Japanese maps. It only can be used as the A/C settings in USA and others. Problem is it's not simple to do the replacement job. Many people were not quite successful and asked professionals to complete the replacement jobs.
