Default 1998 lexus ls400 engine block coolant drain plugs

i need to change the intake manifold gaskets. and i just want to know where the two engine block coolant drain plugs. if you can give pictures or something that would be appreciated. any other advice would be appreciated as well.

There are two under the exhaust manifolds they look like this. Will not exactly they will not be nice and shiny but you get the idea.

they're on the sides of the engine but like wayyyy up there... you'll likely need an extension attached to an extension to reach them




make sure you gently start loosening the bolts and only enough so that coolant starts draining

also, you top off the coolant by pouring it in the inverted 10mm hex bolt at the top of the throttle body

found the right one

and the left one


thanks for the help. now i gotta drain the coolant and change the intake manifold gaskets…

edit: so coolant only came out of one of the two drain plugs. don’t know if i should be worried about it or not.

yes that's the hex bolt where you fill the coolant. more:

i wouldn't worry too much about the water not draining. i would be more worried about it leaking again so be sure it's tight when refilling.

so i unscrewed the drain plug and poked it with something metal and coolant just started pouring out immediately. kinda got covered in coolant lmao.

oh no! glad it started draining but don't forget to wash off the coolant. ethylene glycol is highly toxic (deadly if ingested), and at the least can cause skin irritations if left alone.
