I know of two stories like that...Lexkost you are absolutely right. That car should be inspected by an independent. And a wreck would explain the quality problems that seem unheard of on any other new LS.

Lexkost, wow, I never thought of that possibility. I'll have to find a good body shop and make sure that didn't happen. Although I must say that there are circumstances that would suggest the car wasn't damaged. First the dealer protects all the Ultra Luxury LS430's by surrounding them on all 4 sides by GX or LX 470s. It's really kinda funny the way it looks on the lot. They are just very **** about the Ultras and it shows when you see them on the lot. They don't let anyone touch them let alone test drive them unless you are very serious about buying one. Second, I took delivery of the car with 5 miles on the odometer. If there were damage to the car they would have had to take it about a mile down the road (where their body shop is located). Add that to the distance added at the factory, driving the car onto the boat and off, driving onto the trucks and off and I would think there would be more than 5 mi. on the odo. Anyway, your suggestion is certainly plausible and I will take your good advice and have the car double checked just to be sure. Thanks.

While I never heard of this and it''s very unlikely, perhaps the car was damaged BEFORE arriving at the dealer and was fixed at the port or even in Japan. Again, unlikely, but the "no screws" thing is baffling and suggests something happened AFTER the factory build.

LS430inTX if I were you I'd try to give back that car to the dealer and demand for another one. I don't know if it's too late but atleast try. Also speak with whoever is in charge in the dealership and explain them your problem. If you get a chance also write Lexus a Letter. I read some post that some guy had some problems with his car and he wrote Lexus a letter and they fixed everything for free even things that weren't covered under warranty and he had a car that was a little older and with no warranty. I'll try to find the post later. All I gotta say is that no car is made perfect and all cars will have problems at one point, but it's rediculous that it startes to get problems the first week. Well I hope everything goes well with you.
