Default 93 ls400 (1uzfe) ecu/ecm

I'm curious if anyone knows the difference between the ecm part# 89661-50140 and part# 89661-50150
i intend on replacing mine and it always comes up on part sites with both my ecu from my personal is 50140 but 50150 is cheaper and still a 1uzfe ecu
my first thought is they serve as engine and transmission control it could be set for a different gear ratio or some other small thing related to it
my other question is related to it being flashed at a dealer i belive they match vin to ecu in some way so would the re-flash remove any concern due to it matching to my personal vehicle

89661-50150 is California emissions that ECU won't work for you. I've never heard of a dealer ROM flashing these old ECUs.

There is no re-flashing with the 93 ECUs. As LeX2K has said, the 50150 is Ca. spec. The 50140 is federal spec. I did some research in the past (about 3-4 years ago) to see if they were interchangeable on my old 94. From what I can remember you can use the Ca for both but the federal spec won't work for emissions in Ca. There's an extra air pump on the Ca cars.
I'm in the process of getting another one now for this 93 I have. I'm just gonna get it with the same part # so there's no problem. I haven't seen them any difference in price though. FYI, for the 93 there's also the 50141 that's for the later 93s.

[QUOTE=deanshark;11325894] alright thanks do you happen to remember or know if any running issues came up with cali emissions for a standard I can't imagine it would as I believe the main difference is a third cat and maybe less fuel to lower the exhaust but I'm not one who particularly cares what Californias restrictions and way of working goes and I'm definitely new to these vehicles

I never used the Ca spec ECU. I only did the research cuz when I was looking for one I saw one at a junkyard here in Ct where the car was from Ca but when I went to take it out it ended up having the federal spec ECU in it anyway. I got lucky. But like I said, the only difference I found was the Ca cars came with the extra air pump under the hood. I'd still just get the right part # for your car so there's no questions. I mean, how much more can it be? They all looked the same amount (within $30-$50) to me when I was just looking this week.
