New to the group, can't wait to learn more about the car. Need to replace the rear speaker on my 1997 LS400, which aftermarket speaker should I buy, and how difficult is it to install?

Are you talking about the subwoofer? I'm not sure if the 97 is exactly like the 90-94 but this should help ya. http://www.lexls.com/tutorials/audio/subwoofer.html

yeah the rear speakers are on the rear doors, and the subwoofer is on the rear deck next to the glass. which one are you referring to?

either way, check out crutchfield for the exact size and fitment of either speakers.

if its anything like a 95, I put in 5.25" polks in the rear doors and they fit just fine. they dont line up with the factory holes but i just screwed it in where the speaker were pretty level and centered up in the opening.
