Question Front And Rear End Swap?

So I have family member that is experienced in fabricating. I was thinking of getting a LS400 1st gen (1991-1994) but I have read that the interior is improved on the 2nd generation. I find the 1st generation Lexus LS400 looks nice and want to see if I could install it onto a 2nd Generation LS400 (1995-1997). Does anybody know another thread where somebody has tried this or if this is possible? Is one of the generations longer/wider?

We're talking major styling changes between these generations of cars, way beyond the bumper covers. We're talking actual metal bodywork - Headlights, front fenders, tail lights, hood... I have no idea if these changes affected the hardpoints of where these items all mount to the car. The later cars actually removed trunk space to add rear leg room! I think two inches.

The 1st gen headlights are really growing on me - so I see the appeal of wanting to do it. Sadly I don't have concrete answers, but I think it's highly unlikely it's feasible as a direct swap. This being said - with enough time money and elbow grease, anything is possible.

I have seen 1st gens made to look like 2nd gens with special kits from Japan (no longer made to my knowledge). There should be threads on here about it.

However, I have never seen it the other way around --> 2nd gen made to look like 1st gen

I have not done this myself, but I have seen 2nd gen front seats installed in 1st gens, along with the steering wheel. However, it's probably the case that none of the electronics will work.

You can more easily swap parts between 2nd gen in 1995-1997 and 1998-2000 (UCF2x platform), but the car is on an updated and different frame than 1990-1994 (UCF1x platform). Nothing will line up in terms of the body.

I personally find my first gen to be quite comfortable and not that much different than second gens I've been in.

Most of the time you spend in a car is inside of it, so if you like the interior of the 2nd gen more, I'd recommend looking for those model years. If you really like 1st gens, find a 1st gen

Good luck

EDIT: Example of UCF10 with a UCF20 front end fabrication here:

Most of the swaps I've seen do not do the rear of the car though. Only the front.

anything is possible with a lot of patience, time, and resources. it's not a direct bolt on affair. the cars are just too different. 2nd gens are wider and longer.
