From any pictures I've seen I didn't think there was room atop the nut for a socket and then the ratchet head, even if that was a flex head.

Flex head ratcheting 17mm wrench is the way I'll go. I don't have one but X-mas is a few months away and I have 3 kids, so I guess I'll just get an early X-mas present of a set of new wrenches. I've been wanting to add some flex head wrenches to my tool-box for a few years now but never had a true reason to get them, til now.

Gonna have a smooth ride and some nice shiny wrenches soon. Who's happier then me?
