Default 2 of 3 cigarette lighters not working

I would like to buy something like this so I can get some of the features built into newer cars.

Amazon Amazon

But the cigarette lighter outlet in the front under the radio is not working. (Doesn't stay down.) The one in the back door on the driver's side is working. That lighter in the front outlet doesn't work, so it has to be the outlet. The one in the back door on the passenger side also is not working.

I don't smoke and no one has ever smoked in that car, so I doubt any of the lighters have ever been used. Is this something that I could repair? If so, how?

Thanks

Have you checked this page? It is the often case that the thermal protection device is open electrically. Some people simply use a washer instead of it but there is a possibility of fire hazards.

You are welcome. As long as you use the cigarette lighter as a 12V DC power supply source for a gadget like a Bluetooth FM transmitter radio adapter, it would be OK to use a metal washer.
