This is partly what I find baffling. Of course you'd expect the older models to drop away first, but in this case they built significantly more the first few years. 90-92 production was at least 50% higher than later in the 90's.
That is an interesting point about nice examples being exported to other countries. I wonder how much of a factor that is? There's a pretty big market for classic American cars overseas. The Lexus isn't American, of course, but it was sold mostly in America. And a 30 year old car could certainly be considered a classic, even if these landmark cars still don't seem all that old.

Are you talk about USA cars getting exported internationally? I'd bet more Celsiors get imported. We're talking at most, dozens of cars over the years getting exported for collections. It's probably a rounding error.

There’s an older gentleman just down the road from me who has a 91 with 212k miles, he keeps it parked on the street and I pass it daily. He told me he’s the original owner and he is still driving it. He was a bit hard of hearing so we didn’t have a long conversation. Feels like maybe he’s one of the last of the Mohicans … I haven’t seen interior of it just caught him in passing.

I'm in upstate NY and I see the 1st gens all the time. I don't know how many are specifically 90-91 vs 92-94, but I see them. They're normally clapped out or modded like Nissan Altimas. I think I got the only 1st gen in like a 600mile radius that ain't a pile of doo-doo. I actually found one that's really nice (93) and did some tasteful stuff. Then went full VIP and can't turn back. All the other modded ones are UCF20's. But, I will say, even at shows, MOST are 20's. There'll be like any given 5 of us (not all at the same time) and like 20 20's. lol
