Default What’s a good power steering pump brand

90 ls400 My second remanufactured power steering pump has failed. Both leak from the same spot, what’s a good reliable pump for less than $250?
also could i have excess pressure in my PS lines or something causing the pump to break in the same spot?

i lose a whole reservoir in just a few hours of driving.. that’s bad

When you replaced the pump in the past have you changed the high pressure line? Definitely replace if still original.

My guess is they are using inferior seals when "remanufacturing" the pump instead of using OEM.

I recommend the new BBB industries pump you can get on Rockauto for less than $190. I'm running one without issues. Just make sure you flush the old dirty fluid out and run new fluid.

Default power steering pump

I have tried using the reman pumps, and they always fail within a year. I talked with my mechanic and he said for some reason the Lexus reman pumps all do that. After you've been through the PITA process of replacing it and then sometimes also the alternator which sits right beneath it catching all the leaking power steering fluid (great engineering there!), you are finally ready to bite the bullet and buy the original part at $600 plus.
