Ok so I’m looking for some help in finalizing my tire selection. I have read every post I can find on the topic but can’t find my exact answer. And if I missed it in the 130 page wheel post I apologize. I’m hoping someone here has some experience. So I have a 1998 ls400 and I recently picked up a set of sc430 wheels.
I settled on 15mm spacers up front and 25mm spacers on the rear (hub centric of course). It is not currently lowered but I’ll probably lower it with some springs 1” max in the future. I have read many posts saying a 245/45-18 tire maintains the same wheel diameter and speedo and will feel more plush than the current 245/40-18 tires on the rims.
My question is if a 245/45-18 tire on a sc430 rim will rub on a second gen ls400 with 15mm spacer. And if it would rub if lowered 1” as I plan to do in the future. I’d prefer to maintain as much of the cushioned ride as possible. But can suck it up and go 245/40 if I have to.

per https://tiresize.com/calculator/
OEM: 225/60/16
actually with 245/40 it's smaller so you'll have more clearance when lowered but will run error on your speedometer as you stated.
245/45 is as close you can get to stock outer diameter! that has my vote but if the 245/40 tires are still good why not just use them!
you shouldn't rub when lowered only 1" which is very conservative. and if you rub, it will be because of the offset you added with spacers, not due to the tire size.

Yeah I had read 245/45-18 is basically same diameter as stock so would keep my Speedo on. I bought the 245/45-18 and I don’t suspect there will be any issues with fitment because of that. I’m buying the 15 and 25 spacers this weekend and will report back after a 1” drop. For posterity. Since I read 15 year old posts here for information myself I want to leave a note for future selves haha.
