Lower city gas mileage since I replaced fuel injectors
I was getting injector error codes on several cylinders so got Denso remanufactured injectors and replaced all the originals which turned out to be one of the easier jobs I've done on the car which is running smooth as butter with no error codes. HIghway mileage up near 30mpg as before, but around town I used to get between 18 and 20 and am now getting around 17, and when I accelerate from a stop the motor gives out kind of a moaning sound until it gets to speed like it might be starved for air. It has fresh air filter and the gizmo in there replaced, vac hoses seem fine, I've recently replaced all plugs and coils, had the ICU rebuilt last year, also replaced O2 sensors and PCV valve. It is getting to be winter now in the Northeast so maybe that's the reason or maybe the oil companies are screwing with the corn oil mixture. I was able to buy some methanol-free gas in Vermont and New York recently (they call it recreational gas and it's 91 octane), and what a difference: better power and gas mileage too, but they don't sell it in my stupid state of Mass. unfortunately.
I experienced the same thing in my old Acura Legend. I replaced the one injector that was causing an intermittent misfire (all had over 400k miles on them) and the average dropped from 34mpg to 28mpg.
My guess is that it's a normal thing if the old injectors were partially plugged.
majority of the country change the fuel blend between summer and winter so it's possible you are seeing a slight performance dip there. i would just keep driving the car and see if the ECU adjusts things, and reassess come springtime!
ethanol free fuel is good but it mainly benefits power equipment like chainsaws, yard equipment, to recreational use like jetskis and boats. if you can find it, use it!
Found them on Ebay from the company below: Maybe I should have sprung for new ones. They had an upgrade choice where all the injectors were highly tuned to each other which I paid for..I've heard that failing catalytic convertors can affect gas mileage. I've got a quarter mil miles on my 98 LS, and I noticed online you can buy replacement cats pretty cheap, but again don't know how good they would be.

On a '98 1UZ, all 8 injectors are Denso 23250-50030. However, the four rear injectors on each bank (5,7 - 6,8) wear little foam insulators. These have different Toyota part numbers than the front four injectors.
I see a different part number for each bank, and bank1 is brown-ish pink banks2 green, is that what you got?
they were all brownish/pinkish just like the ones in the car, and each had a specific cylinder number to be placed in. I also noticed several cylinders toward the firewall had a foam rubber collar for some unknown reason, which I installed with the new injectors. Btw I am not getting any gas smell which I was getting before replacing the injectors.
