Exclamation LS400 1999 brittle wiring/rust help

Hey there, this is my first post here. I have not had this car for too long. I have a timing belt change coming up and these wires are very brittle/rusting. What should I do to combat this problem? Should I bring it to a shop for them to do the timing belt and try to fix the wiring? Or should I do it myself? What are these exact wires for?
Thanks for any help!

Top one is a noise filter bottom EVAP function of some type. A shop is likely to be far less careful than you, if you can do the job yourself. One way to combat components degrading is keep the engine bay free of dirt and oil/grease. But heat will still dry out everything rubber and plastic.

If you have any idea, what would be my best bet to try to fix this? Thank you! I appreciate your comment.

If possible cut the wires back into the harness as much as possible and add new sections of wire. This requires soldering and de-pinning the connectors. Unless the wires break I would leave sleeping dogs alone.

Ok awesome that is what my plan was, I already added a bit of solder onto the weakest visible parts of the wire. Thanks again.

Instead of splicing in sections, I would splice in a new pigtail (if available). Also, the brittle/split wire covering needs to be replaced as well. Otherwise, the new wires will suffer the same fate.

I recently (8/2021) had to do a lot of harness/connector/wire repair. I broke off all the brittle sections of wire covering and replaced it with 1/8", 1/4" and 1/2" split loom (https://www.painlessperformance.com/wc/70956).
