1994 LS400 scanner connection
Hi friends,
I need to perform some diagnostics on my car and I dont know how to hookup the OBDII scanner. Where is the connector on this car. Do I need a special connector?
I am sure this has come up before I couldn't sift my way thru to the answer. I would appreciate if you guys to share some information.
Thanks very much

I think I heard somewhere that you can hook up a serial port reader to the diagnostics connector and log information to a laptop. Is that correct? Does anyone know about that?
On another note, has anyone used the OBD1 to OBD2 adapter. Does that work to allow an OBD2 scanner to scan for information? Here is a link to the adapter cable:

I have high doubts that adapter will work. Never tried it, and I don't know if anyone has
Also haven't heard of the logging to laptop approach, unless you mean using a scope and scope software on a laptop. Do you have a source on that?
This is your cheapest & an effective option:
http://www.lexls.com/tutorials/intro/codereading.html
If you want to view data on a graph, like reading the O2 sensor rich/lean signal, you would need to use a scope and probes. You can also monitor the voltages with a voltmeter
Example on an OBD-I V6 Camry that has 2 engine banks, like the LS.
There are probably other useful voltages/readings you can graph, but you would have to check the manual/online
