where will said washers go? on the wheels? suspension? not quite sure what you're asking.

perhaps you meant spacers, as in for the wheels to be pushed out? or spacers to RAISE the car?

the washers go in place of the springs, on the strut shaft, it makes the car lower and is stiffer, its not good for the car and it is stupid and i know that but thats why i only am doing it temporarily since i am getting coilovers soon

I think he means washers on the shafts of the struts.

@OP - wait for your coilovers, and lower the car the right and safe way. There are lots of threads about this

Riding on washers is not fun, and I don't think anyone wants that kind of liability. If you wreck, your friend isn't paying for the registration & insurance on your car.

EDIT: The struts aren't designed to work without the springs. They will blow out if you put the entire weight of the car on them, and your car's handling will be incredibly poor

I'm not sure which would blow out first, the shock absorber or the shock mount. Is it possible you could punch straight through the mount and through the hood\rear window if you removed the coil springs that actually carry the weight of the car? Since the mounting point of the shock absorber, and thus that weight, is going to a different point on the mount than the coil spring normally distributes it to.

Even if that's not the case, it'll be riding on the bump stops the entire time and basically be un-drivable. As in you hit a pothole and spin out un-drivable. This seems like a horrible idea. Wait for the proper parts.

hmm i've never heard of using washers to offset the strut shaft, since the shaft has a bevel to prevent the shaft from going all the way through.
i suppose you can remove the beveled washer and raise the shaft into the cabin/engine bay...but that's just asking for bad news if it fails due to the added tension on the springs!

as with what everyone said, just do it right the first time!

Yeah i know like i said i know its stupid, i would only be on it for a day i just want to see how it rides on washers, i have a freind who rode on washers for a month and his were fine not sure how i guess he just got lucky, he said that it was fun but he also got really stiff springs and his car is static so hes into that 😂 but im just cerious to see how an ls is on it and like i said just want to have fun

Well it's your car to do what you want with, but please don't have fun on the public roads where we're all driving. In the parking lot? Knock yourself out bud. I just hope it doesn't break something unrepairable when you hit a big bump.

(this being said - I know there are a shocking number of cars with rusted frames and non-functioning brakes driving around out there - a "friend" of a friend of mine has a truck whose rear leaf springs rusted through the frame and are sticking out of the bed, so yeah).
