Default Sticking in Park

Hello. I have a 1992 Lexus LS400. Recently...I noticed in order to get my car out of Park. I HAVE TO push and hold on the shift over ride button every time now to get my car out of Park instead of just simply pushing and holding the side button on the console. Has anyone else had this problem with an earlier model LS? And if so....what was the problem? Thanks

Hi ForzaRoma,

I've moved your post the right forum for 1st gen LS400's https://www.clublexus.com/forums/ls-...1990-2000-183/

This is where you should create threads related to your specific vehicle please, this is the third one the moderator team has moved.

it's a two fold safety feature: the brake pedal must be pressed, and you have to press the shifter button.
sounds like your brake switch is faulty where depressing the brake unlocks the shifter so you can get out of park. check this switch at the top of brake pedal.
