Default 98 LS diff options.

So i got a 98 LS400 and the spider gears in the rear diff are about to go. I know its been posted before but i am having a tough time finding a definitive answer. I want to get a limited slip of some sort so i don't have to worry about blowing the spiders up again (All the one tire burnouts did her in lol). Nobody seems to sell anything that fits an LS400 but i can find them for GS's, mk4 supras, etc. apparently the 98-00 use the same 200mm differential and in theory a limited slip carrier for a GS, SC or mk4 that use the 200mm diff should work? I'm quite proficient at ring and pinion setups so that part of it is not a concern. I just don't wanna drop a thousand on a carrier that won't work. Thanks

I have never installed this myself, but from reading and researching this before, you are correct 200MM is what you would need.

Here is a good one ive seen, its made in UK by this shop:

i came across this and thought it might be a good option:
https://kaazusa.com/product/supra-jz...5-way-dbt3020/

honestly i would opt for just a clutch type diff. Wish someone would make one in the $500 range. Perfect for a daily with some spirited driving. I don't really need to spend $1000+ for a daily's diff but i guess i will if it's the only way lol

That KAAZ isnt a clutch type is it?

Yeah i hear you on that, if there was something for 500$ range i think there would be a lot more of these older lexus's with LSD's in them lol. would be nice.

There is a russian made LSD for our cars that used to be available on ebay for about $700 if I remember correctly? But seems like it disappeared off ebay when this ukrain war happened

yeah i stumbled across an ebay link on my searches today for a russian made LSD but it said not shipping now or something like that. Maybe I'll design one and patent it! Haha, i bought a used diff for $250 that'll be here next week. So I'll throw that in and the struts I've been putting off for a year and then see what i can do with the blown up diff. It's bad blown. About ready to grenade 🤣🤦‍♂️. At this point with how bad the fluids gotten and the sounds i can only imagine the ring and pinion are gonna be smoked and unable to setup a reliable gearset. Maybe it'll be a test diff solely for R&D. If i do anything with it I'll post a little thread and see if it gets anywhere.

Please report back if you learn anything about this. I've heard a 200mm fits these diffs too but nobody has ever tried and verified it.

I would call it verified actually. I've seen several cars online reportedly using 200mm LSDs and it works. LS400's, GS400's... 200mm works.
