PLEAE HELP!! - LS430 Transmission "Fail Safe Mode" at cold start
My Ls430 04 goes into limp mode at cold start where the gears don't shift beyond 3rd gear . This is the case only at cold start.
Once the car is heated and the temp. needle reaches the usual half point, and i turn the engine off and restart it, the transmission goes back to working perfectly fine.
Can anyone advise what could be the issue ? Please help!!

Hello,
Part of a normal operation for many Toyota vehicles is not engaging 3rd gear or Overdrive until the car is warmed up to a certain threshold, they claim it's to make the engine warm up quicker, which in turn reduces emissions and wear on the engine, but in reality, it's more of an annoyance than an actually useful feature. Not sure if that's your problem though, it all depends on when the car starts shifting into 3rd gear.
