2005 Lexus LS430 Oil Pan and Gasket
Someone who isn't me has a 2005 Lexus LS430 that they may have accidentally used the oil pan as a jack point. Lol. Anyway, it dented it upwards a little bit and I'm considering replacing the pan. I've since driven the car over 1k miles with no noticeable problems. What I don't understand is that the oil pan has 15 bolts (and is symmetrical) but all replacement gaskets have a 14 bolts pattern and aren't symmetrical. Any ideas what's going on? Thanks in advance.

Well, now your “friend” knows better .
You may just be looking at stock photos, as in websites will use one generic pic for different applications. I’m really not sure if the earlier 430s used different pans, I don’t think they did.
Anyway, a quick google search and I found this, seems to match your gasket.

Thanks for the reply. I took a pic of my oil pan and tried my best to count all the bolts but was hampered by part of the pan being under a subframe. I was able to count 13 bolts but there was no way that only one bolt remained with what was left unexposed. So I'm pretty sure the one I have is the 15 bolt version. I just happened to come across an old thread talking about the oil pan and a user named Lynzoid stating that the service manual calls for removal of the factory gasket and using RTV sealer. Could that possibly be the case with this oil pan? That seems to make the most sense given I can only find 14 hole gaskets for the LS430.

Those are 2 different oil pans.
Your crumpled oil pan has the 3 bolts on the left side of the pic in a curve.
The first pic has the correct new oil pan (15 bolts)
On the 2nd pic (and the gasket) they are in a straight line, so incorrect (14 bolts)
There were 2 different oil pans made.
No. 1 is 12111-50120 07.2003 - 10.2004 PAN SUB-ASSY, OIL
No. 2 is 12111-50150 10.2004 - 2006 PAN SUB-ASSY, OIL
Yours could be either. You'll have to enter your VIN on the parts finder to get the correct oil pan.
However, from what I can tell there is no gasket. You just use RTV gasket liquid to seal it.

Thanks guys. Yeah, mine is definitely the 12111-50150 type oil pan due to it being more symmetrical and having an extra hole. I've been considering replacing it but will probably just let it be for the time being due to the pans being expensive and the locations of the bolts (plus the engine seems perfectly fine). I also don't like the fact that they don't make a gasket for the 12111-50150 but oh well. Thanks anyway. 🙂
