Default Introduction

Hey everybody,

My dad and I have joined the LS club and I want to make an introductory post so you can know me better.
I'm in high school heading into my sophomore year and we're gonna get the car in shape and maybe even better for when I start driving junior year
The basic story on how we got it was my dad saw a really good deal on Craigslist and he didn't mean to buy it but he ended up buying it. It's a 2002 UL with 100k miles, and a reason I've made this thread is what are some of the maintenance things we should do. It's pretty stock but one of the owners installed an asc680 controller and the ride heights kinda weird because of it (maybe the OEM bags have gone bad). We both think the timing belt hasn't been changed at all cause there's no sticker, and the alignment is kinda wack so we're guessing the bushings have gone bad. Things age over time and deteriorate so it'd be nice to know what stuff you guys would recommend to do preventative maintenance on.

also, do facelift body kits work on the pre-facelift model lol

old digital cameras are nice

Welcome to you, your dad, and the beautiful 2002 UL to the forum.

About the forum, you will find a very helpful bunch. Keep up with new postings, checkout the FAQ sticky, and use the Search function. There's a lot of information.

For maintenance: you already mentioned the timing belt, and usually the radiator flush is usually done at the same time.
However, start with the following:
1. using an OBD-II reader check for any trouble codes
2. check the battery condition
3. regular oil changes and tire rotation, around every 5,000 miles
4. check the condition of engine and cabin air filters
5. check the level and condition of coolant, power steering, transmission, and brake fluids
6. check for any leaks under the car and in the engine bay
7. check if the moon-roof, all the lights, external & interior, and all the locks & keys work
8. check navigation, audio, climate control, cigarette lighter outlets
9. check the condition of suspension, hear for any unusual noises while driving
10. keep the spare tire ready to go

Good luck!
