If it's noisier over roads that are less smooth it sounds like tyre noise to me.
I used to have AVON ZV-5s on my LS which were nice and quiet but no longer available.
I replaced them with Goodyear Eagle F1 Asym3 and they are quiet but on certain road surfaces they are noisy as ****, especially on rippled concrete surfaces.
Nah my tires were dead quiet before the big change caused by the very harsh stop that resulted in a leaky strut. Since then I've had noise and roughness in ride, even though struts were changed, as well as LCA bushings, and more recently steering rack.

I do have a slightly bit of play in the steering column, I've been meaning to replace the knurled bolts, but that's not really the source of the noise, which is smooth on big bumps but rough and rumbly, even from the tires going over painted lines.
I think I'm going to start throwing parts at it, probably starting with strut mounts and UCAs, maybe LCAs.
