Default Rear driver door won’t latch

I have a 2006 ls430 CL with the soft close doors and the other day a buddy tried to get into the backseat and the rear driver door stopped latching, it just bounces when I try to close it. I read a few different things online of what my issue could be but I was wondering if anyone else has experienced this and what they did to fix it. Thank you in advance!

It sounds like the latch mechanism has failed in the "open" position. Could be the motor in the actuator or something has jammed in the mechanism.
Either way you are going to have to remove the actuator to have a look.
May be worth buying a used actuator and just swapping it out.
Just make certain it is a Soft Close actuator.

I had this exact problem. I had to replace the actuator. Not too difficult of a project. Mine was stuck in the lock position and I couldn’t even close the door.

Default Video

Here is a video of the actuator. I’d have check and see what the actual part is that I purchased.

If you can get a part number or a link that would be awesome. Im planning on going to the junk yard to hopefully find one, do you know if the actuator is specific to each door or is it universal?

I found the order and part number. Unsure about whether the part is universal. I replaced the passenger rear so I’d advise to be careful and double check. I got this one from Lexuspartsoutlet.com.
