How many LS430 drivers are here who's cars are leaking oil, but driving it no problem
QUESTION PLEASE: How many LS430 drivers are here who's cars are leaking oil, but they are still driving the car anyway.. Without too much worry about getting it fixed?
My car leaks or loses about 3/4 of a quart every 5000 miles. I am told that means it could be getting on the timing belt, and that may damage my timing belt, killing the engine.
So.. I am interested in knowing how many leaky LS430 are not having a problem and how many might have ended up with a broken timing belt and a broken engine.

Dump some of this in worst case it will do nothing but it's generally effective
Problem with oil leaks is it damages everything rubber especially engine mounts.

I have leaky valve covers. Smells like a slight essence of burning oil while sitting at traffic lights.
Have the parts to fix it, but need to stop working on other stupid s@&t and get it done.

Toyota dealership service department re-threaded the drain plug thread(?) on the oil pan and used a larger drain plug on my 2005 LS430 to fix a leak there, IIRC.
I can't visibly see oil on/under the engine.

After 171,000 miles on my 2001, Valve cover gaskets, dipstick o ring and oil level sender replacement have kept my undercarriage dry.

I need to put oil in my 03 every once a while. sure it has some leaks but I don't think anything is getting into the timing belt. It's a 20 year old car and I am ok with that.

I have a leak on my 01 LS 430 188k miles.
Valve cover gasket, Crank seal, and maybe cam seals leaking. I was quoted $6k to get the whole engine resealed.
Car is clean and drives like a dream. Leaning towards fixing it since it is my daily driver.

definitely get that sorted out soon. But $6k is ridiculous. Those are repairs are easy to do yourself if you have the right tools.

Ango is right. Oil leaks are bad and should be fixed but the price quoted is nonsense. My 2006 GS430, same engine as the LS, has zero oil leaks, and never needs oil between oil changes. That is true for all my vehicles. If one develops a leak, I fix it right away. Engine oil leaking on rubber, hot manifolds or hot engines is NOT a good idea, plus it makes a mess on the floor. The vast majority of oil leaks a very easy to fix, biggest issue is usually locating the source of the leak. Clean engine off real well, and find the source, fix from there.
