Engine light after rain...
For 3rd or 4th time my Check Engine light went off relatively recently (over last 1-2 years). It seems to happen after heavy, heavy rain when a tree has fallen on the car (I'm kidding about that last part!). Annoying since as you may know, the car loses VSC/Cruise/ABS (I think) at same time, for some design reason, until the light clears. Last summer, after a few days with the light on, I brought it to AutoZone to get codes read, and it turned the light off. They had some very generic code, nothing obvious. I googled it and forget now, but it was not anything obvious.
I've learned that if I drive it after this happens, the light soon clears, for months at time...( until the next torrential rain storm?), perhaps. I wonder what might be causing this? humidity? a leak (none I am aware of)? A couple of highway trips later and usually the light stays off. (I do not garage the car except in serious snow).
I know there is a code reset cycle, but this is truly (fortunately) very rare so far. Just wondering if any thoughts. I'd get it read if it stayed on, or even buy a scan tool, but it is perhaps 2-3x per year. Last time was January, then this week. I know to give it a day or two and (so far!) it clears and I'm good another 5-6 months!
