Drivers door window lift motor
2004 LS 430
I have the window problem that is only moves one inch then stops and then in 5 min you try again and get another inch. I believe this is a motor overheating. I havent opened the door yet but am confident I need a new motor. I found a source for a right door motor and am sure the gearbox is different, but maybe the motor itself is identical. Anyone know If I can just swap out the motor using one from the passenger door, if the gears are OK ???

I would also consider replacing the window run (rubber) and the regulator…if the run is bad it can wear out a new motor more quickly I believe.

It is more likely that it stops because of the safety mechanism that prevents the window from cutting off your fingers.
I would have the door panel off first and lube the channels and mechanism before considering a new motor.
Electric motors don't generally get weak with age. They either work or they don't.
